Activity Description

Just a 15-minute drive from Bratislava city centre, the Small Carpathians mark the beginning of one of Europe’s longest mountain ranges. This forest playground literally borders the city and is a favourite weekend escape for locals. The Carpathian Bushcraft Survival Course is a 2-hour hands-on experience designed to awaken your inner survivor. Perfect as a team-building and group bonding activity if you are looking for something different from the usual city fun. No outdoor experience? No problem. The session is designed to be fun, accessible and interactive. You'll spend most of the time practising real bushcraft techniques yourself rather than simply watching demonstrations. Stepping outside your comfort zone is exactly what makes it unforgettable—and naturally, the bachelor can expect the toughest challenges. Your experienced bushcraft instructor will guide you through essential wilderness skills and teach you practical techniques that have been used for generations to survive and thrive in nature. Here is a list of the skills you will learn:

Shelter building
Discover how to build a simple but effective shelter using a tarp and natural materials from the forest, helping protect you from the elements.
Finding food and water
Learn how to identify common edible and poisonous berries, mushrooms and plants found in the local forest. You’ll also be introduced to basic techniques traditionally used for catching small animals in a survival situation. You will learn simple and effective methods of finding and filtering water in the wilderness using basic equipment and natural resources.
Bushcraft knife skills
Master essential techniques such as batoning (splitting wood with a knife), creating feather sticks for fire lighting, and harvesting birch bark and tree resin—some of nature’s best natural fire starters.
Making fire without matches
Learn several traditional methods of lighting a fire, including using a ferro rod (fire steel) and even the classic bow drill. You’ll get plenty of hands-on practice creating your own fire from scratch.
Getting out
Finally, you’ll lean how to orientate yourself in the forest and find the north without a compass. This skill is probably the most important to exit the forest and find the closest pub!
